01 — Challenge
Recreating a spare part from a worn original
The original suspension arm was worn, and a basis for manufacturing a replacement had to be created. The challenge was to capture the true geometry of the existing part accurately while taking into account the requirements of the chosen casting process.
02 — Solution
Documentation as the basis for producing a replacement part
We measured the actual part and created a digital model of it. The design took into account the real dimensions of the worn component and the requirements of investment casting.
03 — Approach
Original worn part
Measuring the actual dimensions and geometry of the worn suspension arm.
Reverse design
Converting the measured data into a digital 3D model, taking the casting process requirements into account.
Production documentation
Creating documentation as the basis for producing the replacement casting.

Outcome
The resulting model provided the basis for manufacturing a replacement suspension arm and made it possible to keep the historic vehicle fully usable. It also produced a digital record that can make the spare part easier to obtain within this specialist community.
